River to Infinity - The Vanishing Points, 2008, mirrored glass, explosive elements, 70'x45'x70', (video still from two channel video projection), Bonneville Salt Flats, UT
Sculpture was installed on the Bonneville Salt Flats and documented with an HD video three camera shoot.
The viewer is invited to cross a mirrored river sculpture on glitter encrusted stepping stones. The river is a symmetrical mirrored surface on the floor and the ceiling above -- creating an infinite reflection. The audio element is audible only at the center of the river -- in the vantage point for viewing the two channel video projection. The viewer can then walk around the fallen obelisk sculptures to find two life-sized rhinestoned horse heads hidden among the obelisks -- the crossing amplifies the video event, through vertiginous physical experience, and creates the sense that the viewer has become a participant by crossing the river sculpture to enter a kind of collapsed theatrical set.
