Surmatants White and Red T-shirt
Designed by William Magdziarz
Surmatants T-Shirt in White for Factory Installed 2021 artist Andréa Stanislav.
Surmatants – Mars Rising is an elegiacally visceral response to the CV19 pandemic in three acts — informed by Pittsburgh’s Slavic immigrant labour history, and 13th century bubonic plague imagery — through a release of dance. Tenants of Russian Cosmisim and transcendence are evoked through Jesse Gelaznik’s musical compositions, paired with renowned choreographer – Željko Jergan and John Harbist’s dances performed by the Tamburitzans. The installation is structured through a physical ascent, connecting three spaces (the white room, red room, and black room) — crescendoing to three channel circular video projection transmitting a human resurrection on Mars from the future.

Andréa Stanislav Brings Cosmism to the Bruno David Gallery
Drawing inspiration from the Russian philosophical and cultural movement of Cosmism, Andréa Stanislav has transformed the Bruno David Gallery into haven of art exploring the nature of the universe and humankind's place within it. Both her two dimensional art and her sculptures draw heavily on themes of the space race, animal symbolism, the hope of immortality, and the nature of death. "Cosmist Reconstructions" will be available to the public through January 20, 2018.

lovely interview with Brainard Carey on his program on Yale Radio, click the logo and go listen, please...this is a great site with scads of interviews with folks who do "cultural production" in the visual arts...he does a great interview (not always my forte) and we talked about my ongoing Russian Project, Forget Your Past.
Transposistions II show at the Museum of Non-Conformist Art in St Petersburg, Russia, which just closed, was reviewed in Art Forum. A massive shout out to curator Anastasia Patsey, director of the museum. There was also a very comprehensive catalogue.
